A man in Denver, Colorado, is behind bars – accused of fatally shooting his neighbor multiple times in the head. According to the Daily Mail, 32-year-old Michael Kourosh Sadeghi allegedly shot his neighbor on Tuesday because he believed that the man was beating his own dog – a German shepherd mix named Bruno.

The victim’s fiancee, Vicki Branaghan, told the authorities that Bruno had started regularly jumping their fence into Sadeghi’s yard. On the night of the shooting, the dog got hung up in the fence and the victim “swatted” him after pulling the dog off of the fencing. The accused shooter allegedly believed that Bruno’s owner was beating the dog and a heated argument, with Sadeghi allegedly accusing the victim of animal abuse, ensued.

Branaghan claims that Sadeghi pulled out a gun and shot her fiancé in the head multiple times before walking away. The shooter was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder and taken to the Adams County Detention Facility; the authorities are still investigating the deadly situation.

  1. Who knows where the real truth lies in this story – one man is dead and another in jail – the only one to tell a story is the fiancée of the dead man – I do have a sneaking suspicion that Bruno was being beaten, if he was just being swatted why would Mr. Sadeghi have taken such drastic measures? There is more to this story – and I hope it comes out –

  2. Animal Control, Police Officers and Judges: you all had better wise up, grow a spine and start prosecuting animal abusers to the fullest extent of the law. And if the laws are too lenient, then CHANGE THEM. WE are sick and tired of these repeat violent abusers getting off with a slap on the wrist because YOU’RE too weak. This just shows how frustrated we are, so either do the job WE PAY YOU TO DO OR GET THE F*** OUT. Sick and tired of your inept dereliction of duty to law abiding citizens and their companion animals. Period!

  3. I have never heard of this happening before so I am speechless. I feel that I’m glad someone stepped in to stop any possible abuse and on the other hand I am shocked it went this far.

  4. Maybe this is a good thing to set an example for animal abusers…give up the animal and get psychological help or you could face the same fate as the guy who was beating Bruno and you know what we don’t care what happens to abusers..maybe this is the best way to eliminate them.

  5. Wow!!! I live in the ROCKY MTN REGION and this story Has not even appeared on Fox 3 KDVR DENVER News or on the Web site!!! !Coloradians ” for the MOST PART are VERY ANIMAL PROACTIVE!!! there are beautiful dog parks, rules and regulations, and So !SO many people jogging and health orientated with Pets!! I too think there must be a lot more to the STORY than is being told by the “girlfriend of the possible animal abuser..” Why was Bruno jumping the fence!!! perhaps to get away from being abused!!! The girlfriend of course will cover her tracks in the best way she can, by making out the man that could have had enough of watching and hearing abuse to totally lose control at the situation…

    • it’s actually in multiple outlets including KDVR, the Independent, Miami Herald, Fox News and more – all you need to do is search the shooter’s name to find them.

  6. A lot is missing from this story, why did Michael Kourosh Sadeghi feel it necessary to bring a gun to the confrontation? Had he seen this behavior before? I don’t know if I believe Vicki Branaghan’s account of the story something must have been going on to make the neighbor confront the victim in the first place. He did what most of us would “like” to do when witnessing abuse but he will now most likely go to prison. I hope more comes out about this, I really think there is more to the story than being let out.

  7. If the man believes the dog was being beaten I believe it to be true. Hope the shooter gets off for saving the dog./= The fiance will tell the story as if it was the fault of the shooter.

  8. I was reading the story and Bruno was a rescue along with other animals. Maybe Bruno was a fence jumper. It appears that the owner didn’t seem to be an animal abusers but then again you never know. It is a sad taking the life of someone if the shooter assumed the dog was being abused. Maybe we will never know. Now the fiance will only take him outside only when she is there watching the dog according to her on the TV.

  9. Ya think people are sick and freaking tired of animal abuse!?!?!?? If the courts would DO something other than slap their hand and send them away…..maybe abuse would stop and people wouldn’t be so petrified of hearing an animal being hurt!
