A Connecticut man has been charged with animal cruelty after authorities contend he killed a neighbor’s cat because he found the animal annoying. Craig Middendorf, 48, of Oxford has also been charged with unlawfully discharging a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment.
According to the Hartford Courant, Middendorf told police he thought the cat was a stray, and it was annoying him. The cat was owned by another tenant in the other part of the duplex. He fired his rifle at the cat in the backyard of the complex.
State troopers confiscated his .22 caliber rifle. Middendorf was booked into jail and later released on a $2,500 bond. His court appearance is scheduled for February 5.

I agree with all of you. Cats walking around outside are not annoying. You rarely hear them. I hate to think what he would do if someone makes too much noise.
I bet he also got his gun legally and had a background check, so how will that deter others from having guns and shooting someone or something?
