A man has been charged after dragging his dog to death behind a truck in Spartanburg, South Carolina. According to the News Observer, the man appeared to be unaware that his dog was chained behind his truck until an officer confronted him about it at a gas station.

The horrible situation

The horrific situation took place on Friday night. A deputy with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office approached the man after being flagged down by a good Samaritan.

Lt. Kevin Bobo, with the sheriff’s office, stated that the man:

“became emotional and explained his friend must have secured the dog on the chain behind his truck while they were working at another location, but the friend didn’t inform the driver of what he had done,”

The charge

Though the dragging appears to not be an intentional act of cruelty, the man is facing a charge for ill treatment of animals, reported Fox Carolina.

Deputies visited the man’s residence and found other dogs there who appeared to be “properly cared for.” The investigation into the dragging is ongoing.

    • I agree. How couldn’t this evil animal torturing monster not know that the helpless and innocent dog was not being dragged behind the truck.
He is a lying monster. Drag this evil monster behind a truck until this lowlife pos dies. An eye for an eye.
RIP beautiful fella. You have crossed the beautiful Rainbow Bridge into beautiful Animal Heaven. Fly high beautiful fella. No more suffering just pure peace.

  1. Please God thst these charges stick, and the perpetrator does appropriate jail time. There have been far too many dogs killed without anyone being convicted and it needs to be halted. Slaps over the wrists or petty fines just dont cut it as a deterent.

  2. I has BECOME APPARENT THAT EXTREME ABUSE< TORTURE<MAIMING<MURDERING < MULTILATION::: IS INDEED becoming MORE & MORE common place in OK.. SAD TO SAY:: It looks like OKALAHOMA is becoming ANOTHER TEX(ASS)!!!! I hope the Residents, Law Agencies, Elected Officials, Rescues … GET ORGANIZED to help get this Horrific Practice UNDER CONTROL and STOPPED before IT REACHES EPIDEMIC PROPORTIONS!!! ALONG WITH MURDER's of YOUR HELPLESS COMPANION ANIMALL"S

  3. Too many missing pieces. If he was with someone and says that person chained his dog to the truck, before he got into the truck and drove off, didn’t he question or wonder where he dog was? If he knew, did he think his dog could keep up? Why didn’t the person working with him say something to him? So horribly sad that this dog had to suffer like this.
