An Iowa man has been arrested for allegedly punching his dog, repeatedly, with a closed fist. According to the Des Moines Register, 32-year-0ld Willard William Street is accused of punching his dog more than 20 times – and the cruelty was reported to have been captured on video. Police launched an investigation after a concerned citizen turned over the video footage to the authorities.

Street is facing charges for animal neglect and failure to license a pet for the January 1 incident, reported WHOTV. The abused dog is reported to be a pit bull named Linkin. The pit bull, and two other dogs, have been removed from Street’s property. All of the dogs have been taken in by the Animal Rescue League (ARL) of Iowa.

In a Facebook post, ARL addressed animal cruelty laws in the state:

The ARL has been working with state lawmakers on legislation to strengthen punishments for animal abusers, specifically for companion animals living as pets. The Senate version of the bill (SF421) passed out of the judiciary committee last week, and its next stop is the Senate floor for debate.

Its companion bill (HSB608) is scheduled to be debated in a House subcommittee meeting on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in the House Lounge at the Iowa State Capitol. The ARL urges anyone who is concerned about the weak animal protection laws in our state to attend this subcommittee meeting to make your presence known.

To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”

  1. “Investigation???” They’ve got positive proof that this cowardly POS is guilty! Haul his sorry behind to the free hotel!

    • I know it’s frustrating as it seems like it’s a slam dunk. BUT if they don’t conduct this by following procedures, a savvy lawyer can have it dismissed on the grounds of dereliction of duty to conduct due diligence. In other words, laws cannot be enforced by sidestepping protocols and procedures. So many violent offenders have gotten away with MURDER because officers sidestepped investigatory procedures. Hope this helps.

  2. What a low life loser coward abusing a dog makes you real tough why don’t you fight someone who can hit back no because your a low life coward

  3. People in Iowa need to get involved in this for their state’s laws! If you personally can’t attend the meeting, write letters, get in touch with somebody that can attend the meeting! Be proactive! That’s the only way this is going to change!

  4. Lock this POS up and throw away the key! There is NO reason he needs to be out and living in society! I hope he gets more than a “slap on the wrist” for this!

  5. Do the same to this scum but use brass knuckles with spikes on them to his face and body. They give him a place to live- in jail!

  6. This hunk of maggot shit is someone I would love to see sitting in jail where his fat flabby butt would become the victim of every predatory inmate in every way possible. Williard William Street deserves to be treated as cruelly as he treated Linkin – Thanks to the person who turned this hunk of maggot puke in and to ARL for helping Linkin and the other dogs out of this hell hole.
