A Butler, Pennsylvania man has been accused of deliberately electrocuting his girlfriend’s dog. Paul Plakidas, 40, was charged on Wednesday with aggravated animal cruelty. He also faces felony risking catastrophe.

According to the CbsNews, the tragic situation occurred on September 1 when Butler City Police were called to a home on North Chestnut Street when a woman told authorities her boyfriend killed her seven-year-old Maltese. When officers arrived, Plakidas allegedly appeared intoxicated and advised the police the dog was dead stating someone had put the dog in a cooler filled with water and then put a wire into the water to electrocute the pup.

Officers found the cooler filled with water and an electrical cable in the basement of the home. Plakidas claimed he was home alone at the time the dog died. The dog’s body had been thrown into a garbage can near the house.

Plakidas was released from jail on his own recognizance.

  1. Wow! Released on his own recognizance! I’m impressed on how seriously they are taking this man’s killing of his girlfriend’s dog! (sarcasm). What is wrong with law enforcement? Next it will be HER!
