A Massachusetts man is accused of beating his girlfriend’s small dog to death. According to multiple sources, 31-year-old Steven Severino allegedly attacked the dog on Tuesday and neighbor’s nearby heard it.
The incident took place in the backyard of a residence on Hoyt Street, in Everett. Neighbors near the residence reported hearing the dog crying and being slammed against something. One of the neighbors called the authorities to report the situation and when the police arrived, they found Severino with the dog’s dead body slung over his shoulder, reported CBS Boston.
The impact from whatever the dog was hit with, or thrown into, was severe enough to break his jaw.
The accused man has denied the allegations and pleaded guilty to the associated charges.
Official speaks out
Mayor Carlo DeMaria commented on the cruelty case:
I am shocked and saddened by the death of this animal. We all know that dogs love us unconditionally and are the truest of friends. Behavior like this will not be tolerated in this city and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
