The San Francisco SPCA opened its doors to numerous displaced dogs from the Camp Fire blaze which devastated much of Butte County in northern California. On December 8, the animal welfare agency reached out to the public for help for one dog who remains at the shelter, unclaimed:

All of the #CampFire dogs in our care have found their families, except for this boy! He was found in Deadwood, Butte County, near Highway 70. He’s about 6 years old and not neutered. If you recognize him, please call us at 415-554-3030. ID: A40173333

Offers to help

Numerous people have offered to foster the senior dog – but the owner does not yet appear to have been found. For residents in the area who want to take in a homeless shelter pup, the facility advises:

Thank you for offering to help. If you want to become a foster volunteer for adult dogs, our next orientation is tomorrow. This class will make you eligible to foster dogs saved from disasters, like the Camp Fire, plus shelter dogs who are working through medical or behavioral issues. December 11, 6:30 pm – 8 pm at our Mission Campus. RSVP required: [email protected] – If this class is too last minute, you can email our foster team and ask to be notified when the next orientation is scheduled.

The shelter has been posting flyers in Butte County, in case owners of displaced pets do not have any access to computers and/or the internet. But this dog is still waiting for his family to be found – if you recognize him, please contact the shelter at 415-554-3030, and reference ID: A40173333
