The last call has been issued for a young, frightened German shepherd who is being held at a busy California animal control agency. The dog, known only by his identification number, has been at the Riverside County Animal Control since December 12, and already he has been pulled for euthanasia.
The volunteer-run Facebook page, Saving Riverside Shelter Dogs, has stated that the two-year-old shepherd has been pulled for behavior reasons, specifically, “Kennel stress, growls, fearful, unsocial on euth list.”
Euthanasia
Dogs at busy animal control agencies do not get to be scared, or stressed, or sometimes, even sick. When kennel space is at a premium, only the healthy dogs, with the best chance of being adopted, are afforded the time needed to find an adopter. It may not seem fair, but it is the reality.
This dog only stands a chance if someone with experience, and patience, is able to show him that he is safe and give him the guidance that he needs. Unfortunately, there isn’t much time to find the person who is right for the “job.”
This dog may truly be unsocialized and have aggression issues – or perhaps he is terrified. Nobody will know unless he is pulled from the shelter and removed from the stressful environment.
If you are interested in helping, please, at the very least, take a moment to network this dog’s adoption information.
