A two-year-old black and brown Labrador retriever name Peaches had been adopted from Miami-Dade Animal Services when she was a cute and cuddly puppy. She thought her family would love her forever, but on Tuesday, Peaches was hit by a car. Instead of taking her to a veterinarian, her family surrendered her to the shelter – right back where she started from as a pup.

Although her family may have had financial limitations, the shelter does work with owners to help. Unfortunately Peaches’ leg was too badly damaged from the accident and had to be amputated by the shelter veterinarians. Her family never returned.

“What is most heartbreaking, is that despite the betrayal and the trauma that Peaches had been through, this baby is still the sweetest, most loving girl, and as you can see, she is able to get around on 3 legs,” a shelter volunteer posted on Urgent Dogs and Cats of Miami‘s Facebook page.

“Peaches desperately wants to love and be loved in return. We need everyone to please help this poor baby find the loving home she deserves. The only hope she has is us.”

  1. Amazing how animals can adapt to 3 legs. Wish her owners had admitted that they couldn’t afford the surgical costs although she probably still would have been given up. Hope Peaches gets adopted by a loving forever family. She deserves it.

  2. THANKS TO THE ANGELS WHO RESCUE THE BIG ANGEL /DOG AND IM VERY HAPPY TO READ THAT HE WAS ADOPETED =GREAT NEWS !! !!!

  3. PLEASE put that families name on a list so they may never adopt or purchase another pet. Pets are family….not “something to own” just when it is young and healthy.
These people should never be allowed another animal!

  4. Wonder what they would do if the kids got sick, why get a pet if your just going to dump it when its time to fork out some money on it
