Authorities in Kansas City, Kansas charged the owner of a dog with animal cruelty after the man stabbed his dog to death. John Caffrey, 43, killed his dog on Tuesday telling neighbors the dog was murdered “because he was blind.”
According to KctvNews, Kansas City Police arrived at Caffrey’s home after a neighbor spotted the man taking the dog into a wooded area behind his home and when he returned the dog was not with him.
On social media, one person gave his opinion:
“Not that I’m defending him and I have 3 dogs myself. How old was the dog? What was it’s (sic) health like besides being blind? The last old dog I had to put down cost $100. Maybe he didn’t have the money. Could be other circumstance that this article says nothing about except “To enflame “ people.”
The comment quickly grew more criticism than apologies with most people outraged by anyone taking a companion animal’s life without any regard for the law. Caffrey has been charged with felony cruelty to animals – malicious torturing or killing.
