In another heartbreaking senior alert, Abbey and Bogey were surrendered on July 18 by their owner to a Georgia shelter. Abbey is an 18-year-old spaniel mix and her bonded pal is Bogey, a 17-year-old neutered corgi mix. We know these these two seniors don’t belong in a shelter, but here they are at Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta, Georgia – most likely on the look-out for their family’s return.
The Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb County have posted their plight on Facebook and are asking for help finding these two dogs an approved rescue, a new home or a qualified foster situation. Immediate assistance for Abbey and Bogey is needed:
“Both have arthritis and other age related health issues. These 2 seniors do not deserve to be stuck in a shelter and need to get out ASAP! Their immune systems probably aren’t great due to their age, so they might get sick here. Please come rescue this old couple!”
Information:
- “COAT LENGTH Medium HEALTH Vaccinations up to date. GOOD IN A HOME WITH Children.
- Meet this sweet and special senior lady named ABBEY. ABBEY and her friend Bogie were dropped off at the shelter by their previous owner on 7/18. These sweet seniors did not deserve to be dumped at the shelter in their senior years and need to get out of the shelter as soon as possible! Abbey is 18 years old and is a small girl at just 26 pounds. The previous owner reported that she is GOOD WITH KIDS but did not leave any other information. The hard concrete floor of the shelter is no place for a sweet senior to rest. Abbey is up to date on her shots and will be microchipped and heart worm tested upon adoption. She will need to be spayed at the veterinarian of the adopter due to her age. Abbey and Bogie are waiting to meet you in cage 77. Abbey’s ID# is 606701 and Bogie’s ID# is 606700.”

I cannot believe these two were just thrown away by such a callous and disgusting owner. I would love to foster them but I live in Arkansas.

Shared in face book !!! POS owners I hope Rot in hell and may bad karma come there way
I will never understand how a so called owner can just dump two senior dogs,17 & 18 yrs. That is an old dog and am sure has a lot of elder dog issues that come with age. Their names should be on a list with others that dump their dogs, especially seniors. Do they even realize that there are not too many adopters that will want dogs that age? I hope a rescue or foster takes both of them so they can live out their lives peacefully. These dogs have no clue why they are there and probably looking for their owners to come back. Please, someone or group take these bonded dogs and give them the comfort they need.
Omg why do people want to rid themselves of a family member because they have got older
I can’t imagine doing this to any of my “four legged family” in all seriousness and to be fair… JUST MAYBE there is an issue that forces this move:: such as newly diagnosed illness, need to find other living accommodations , illness with a family member, or financial conditions… this is JUST HEART_WRENCHING!!! Bless these two little companion’s as they are so confused I am sure!!!
This is just too sad I am totally disgusted with people who have dogs and dump them at a old age.please if there’s anyone in the area that can help them and take them in I would donate towards their food or care whatever is needed they don’t deserve this from tear owners all they did was love you all those years can you or someone at least get them something soft to lay on they are old and their poor bones hurt please someone open your heart

Love and prayers for a loving caring home for this beautiful couple!
PLEASE SAVE THEM BOTH!!!! IDIOT OWNERS NEED TO BE THROWN IN THOSE CAGES INSTEAD!!!
whomever dropped those two sweet dogs off at the shelter, should be dropped off in jail.
These poor, terrified, confused precious little treasures……. OMG: my instinct is to snuggle them both and reassure them that the world is “OK”…….
I just don’t understand how anyone could abandon precious little treasures like Abbey & Bogey…… Seniors like Abbey & Bogey are absolute precious treasures (& mostly want to snuggle and snooze)……. perfect “low pressure” companions……
I would give everything to snuggle my beloved treasure MacKitty (who passed away @ 14.5, waaaaaaay too soon from liver cancer)…… I am sick inside to think of these terrified seniors dying alone, afraid and (worst of all) unloved inside a cold, crowded, noisy shelter…….
Sadly owner surrendered pets are @ the top of euthanasia lists & seniors are “the first of all the euthanasias” as they are usually deemed “unadoptable due to age”…… I am heartsick to think of these precious little treasures wondering where their family is & why they are alone as they are euthanized…….
There are special places in Hell reserved for Abbey’s & Bogey’s former so called family for their cruelty…….
I hope Abbey & Bogey find a new furever home together ASAP…… If someone is coming to the SF Bay Area, they are both welcome here….. I would be happy to foster them (probably “fail” as a foster since they would think our home is “perfect”)…….
Shared for a hospice home.
