After a one-week trial in a Manhattan federal court, a jury of five men and seven women found a Bronx man guilty of violating the animal welfare act and conspiracy for training dogs for vicious fight matches

On Friday, Rasheed Richardson, 29, charged with buying and training dogs to compete in fights to the end dogfighting matches, could be sentenced to ten years in prison. Jurors watched several videos of animal cruelty showing one vicious dog in training mauling another while that dog cried out in fear and intense pain.

Richardson had purchased the dogs out of state and trained them to be vicious and aggressive. He had planned to breed his own fighting dogs. In May 2017, police and animal rescue organizations searched the suspect’s Bronx home and found 11 caged dogs that had been kept in tight wooden kennels with small holes in the front so they could see the captive dogs next to them – a technique used to foster aggression. The dogs whined and cried – desperate to be freed. Another dog had been kept in a 55-gallon drum.

The ASPCA, the New York Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office were able to bring Richardson to justice and shine more light onto the brutality of dogfighting. Of the 11 dogs rescued that day at Richardson’s home, five of the dogs were so aggressive, authorities stated they had to be humanely euthanized.

Rest in peace sweet dogs. We are sorry humans failed you.

If you see something that isn’t right, say something. It was a neighbor who complained about the constant barking coming from Richardson’s home that started the investigation.

  1. So he was found guilty, what is his punishment? Unless they make the punishment severe enough, then nothing really has been accomplished has it? If the judge gives him the proverbial “slap on the wrist” then what good does it do to find him guilty?

  2. We all agree that the maximum sentence should be given, but considering those rulings are not long enough, we need to contact our politicians to change state and federal laws about animals and particularly raising them to fight.Too bad they euthanized the aggressive dogs as they could have first had them attack this evil creature. How can his lawyer say he was raising these dogs? What scums these creatures are.

  3. Why the hell were the 5 dogs euthanized because they were so aggressive? I would have put this low life welfare dip shit in a room with the 5 dogs so they can rip all his limbs apart. This is a low as they come. Look at this ugly POS who doesn’t work and makes his money off of animals scumbag. This mentally sick coward is useless and needs to rot with cancer. He messed up the minds of many dogs and I wish I can find this scum to mess up his mind. Hopefully this rotten POS will die in pain soon. This disgraceful subhuman can watch one dog hurt another and think nothing of one crying in pain. All I wish is someone to do this to him now.
