Jail time has been ordered for a Florida man who pleaded guilty to charges for fatally beating a small Yorkie. According to multiple sources, this week 41-year-old Sigman Hernandez was sentenced to nine months of jail and two years of house arrest for the death of his Yorkshire terrier.
The five-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, named Suzy, was discovered grievously injured in a Miami Beach Publix parking lot in April 2017. An employee at the store found the badly injured dog – she was taken to a veterinary hospital where the full extent of her injuries from the vicious beating were discovered. Hernandez’s attack left the tiny dog with nine broken ribs and severe head trauma. The horrific injuries were not survivable.
After the hearing
After the hearing, the dog killer’s defense attorney stated:
“It’s an unfortunate incident that he’s very remorseful about and I’m glad and hopefully at this point he can get some closure.”
The terrible beating apparently took place because Hernandez was angry that the small dog had vomited in his car.
