The authorities in Monessen, Pennsylvania, are conducting an investigation following the disturbing discovery of a decapitated dog near railroad tracks near the Herman Mihalich Memorial River Launch area. According to TribLive, the dog’s beheaded body was found on November 19.

The search for answers

The deceased dog, identified as a male Cane Corso, was discovered near the train tracks with his head laying next to his body.  A spokeswoman for Hoffman Animal Control in Delmont told the news agency, “It was terrible.” She said that the deceased dog had no identification – no tags or microchip, and nobody has called to report that their dog is missing.

Though the dog was found near the tracks, officials did not find any evidence suggesting that he had been hit by a train.

Information needed

The authorities are hoping that a member of the public will have a tip to help solve the case. Anyone with information is asked to reach out to the Monesson Police Department at  724-684-4620.
