A horrible man is facing charges after he allegedly beat a dog with a 2 x 4 in front of his family. According to The State, 26-year-old Mark Anothony Rice, of South Congaree, South Carolina, beat the Cane Corso with the piece of wood in front of his wife and child.
The horrible beating
Authorities in Lexington County obtained graphic video of the horrible beating – the accused man can be seen repeatedly swinging the 2 x 4 and hitting the dog, who is crying in pain. The violent beating is likely not the dog’s first…the man can be heard in the video saying, “You remember this don’t you?”
The aftermath
Amazingly the dog survived the brutal attack. The dog in the video, as well as two other dogs and a cat, were seized from the home – all of the pets were taken to the Lexington County Animal Shelter. The man accused of beating the dog is facing a felony charge of animal cruelty which could land him in prison for five years. He is also facing charges for domestic violence and unlawful conduct towards a child.

Big tough guy beating on a defenseless dog I hope you meet the same fate in jail
I fear for his family. If he will beat an innocent dog like this what will he do to his wife and child. I hope she takes the child and runs before he turns that 2×4 on her. What is with some people in South Carolina lately, Have they all gone crazy?
How sad that the victim of the beating is in jail, while a judge can decide at a later date whether or not the vicious criminal might do any time, or not. At least the bastard knows what he did wrong. The poor dog didn’t do anything at all. Heartbreaking.
