A homeless dog, who was put into a bad situation by an adopter, is scheduled to be killed at a New Hampshire animal shelter. As reported by the Union Leader, a group of people are fighting to save the young dog, who they refer to as a “gentle giant.”
The situation
The dog in jeopardy is a two-year-old German shepherd named Sicario. According to the New Hampshire Humane Society, Sicario has been returned to the shelter by adopters who claim that he behaved aggressively.
But employees at the shelter (both current and former) have a different story – not only do Sicario’s supporters claim that he is a “gentle giant,” they also state that he is smart and willing to learn. He is however, not good with other dogs. Sicario’s bad situation took place after an adopter, who was allegedly warned that he wasn’t good with other dogs, placed him into a doggie daycare setting and he got into a fight – someone at the daycare facility was bitten while trying to separate the dogs.
Now, Sicario is scheduled to pay with his life – as reported by the news agency, he is supposed to be put down on Friday. In a statement, the shelter wrote:
By no means has this decision been taken lightly. This follows our internal policies in such cases and recommendations from our veterinarian and behavioral health specialists. All of us grieve this difficult decision.
An advocate
One of Sicario’s advocates claims that offers have been made to save the death row dog:
Several people begged the NH Humane Society to let them adopt him and work with him in the environment he needed. They offered to pay full price for him and take him on the spot and was denied and told by the president of the humane society that he would be euthanized tomorrow because he exhibits dangerous behavior. They wonder why dogs exhibit this fear controlled “dangerous” behavior when they are returned to shelter every few months.

Idiot humans, you are warned that a dog doesn’t get along with other dogs so you send them to a doggie day care. What is wrong with people. This dog doesn’t need to pay for this with his life! This shelter is being irresponsible and are just a bunch of killers!
This is just plain MURDER! Please don’t let this happen!
I pray that this beautiful dog does not get killed for something the adopter knew full well about and did it anyway. The owner should be killed too for allowing this situation to happen. Maybe Sicario should be taken and trained to be a police canine. His reaction to other dogs might be diverted toward criminals.
I emailed the “shelter” begging for them to make a different decision.
Being a responsable pet owner would NEVER put your fur baby in an unaceptable situation. These people knew dogs issues so why did they do this. How can anyone punish this mistreated dog for his caregivers unlovingly actions. This situation is uncareing abuse.
