Hikers who set out to enjoy a trek in the great outdoors made a horrible discovery in Cass Township, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, over the weekend. The Morning Call reports that a dead dog, described as a young adult pit bull, was inside of a cage which had been buried in the ground.
A deliberately cruel act
Authorities believe that the dog’s death is the result of a deliberately cruel act. Someone put the brindle colored dog into a cage which was buried in the ground – the hole was covered with boards from a nearby collapsed structure. The dog appears to have starved to death and there are signs of torture.
The authorities are hoping for leads in this animal cruelty case. Anyone with information about this case should reach out to the State Police at Frackville.
