A senior dog, nine years of age, is heartbroken after his family dumped him at a busy California animal control agency. According to the volunteer run Facebook page, Saving Carson Shelter Dogs, this is the second time in three months that the dog, named Opus, has been cast aside by his family.

The senior dog’s story

Saving Carson Shelter Dogs initially wrote:

This will break your heart. OPUS was being left at the shelter because his family has a new baby coming. You can see his heart break with confusion as he tries desperately to get back to his dad and stop what’s happening.

Then, three months later, updated:

URGENT!!!BACK IN THE SHELTER!🆘🆘THE FAMILY GAVE HIM UP AGAIN!! Please SHARE, he needs help NOW!

  1. How anybody could do this is beyond me
I don’t give a shit whether you have one kid or 10 kids when you make a commitment ..an oath to own an animal …it’s as if you have a child
would you give one of your children up for adoption if you had an extra one that you were counting on….seriously people what the fuck is wrong with people these days I honestly don’t know
makes me want to euthanize the humans that do these kinds of things.
The law should mandate that people interested in pet ownership should be forced to take some sort of a course to find out their eligibility .
    Home inspections are necessary.
if you become ill or overwhelmed with your commitment to own an animal then you should have something in place, something sane and humane.
As for these pieces of shit who dropped off this beautiful dog they should have been forced to pay for in-home boarding until he found an adequate adopter night a very stressful kennel situation.

    • You took rage words out of my mouth Micele, I agree totally. They have puppy training programmes, so why not owner training programmes prior to being eligible to own. The cost of boarding up to rehousing by adoption should definitely be covered in these cases, and I don’t think they should be allowed to have a pet again. They’re irresponsible and will therefore raise their offspring the same way, so Heaven hel0 any poor pet who gets lumbered with them. There should be a blacklist just as there is for other criminal types such as paedophiles etc (no, I’m not saying they’re in the same vein), but the proper scrutiny should be in place.

  2. “He is HOUSEBROKEN, HAS TO LIVE INSIDE, LOVES LITTLE DOGS and BIG DOGS, LOVES THE DOG PARK and going to PET STORES> GREAT WITH KIDS!!” Sounds like the perfect dog for a new baby in the house, so why get rid of him? Will they get rid of the NEW baby when they get sick of it?

  3. WOW !!! The writing is ON the WALL !!! This will be a neglected, possibly abused little Child!!! the two that SPAWNED this unborn child ARE GUPPIES!!! Off Spring of the Grandma’s and Grandpa’s that are the 60’s or 70’s Guppies… that just swim off and leave what they have spawned!!! Poor Opus I do wish he could come out to the middle west ::: he would be scooped up by a loving family … I do thank the Shelter for trying to get a home for OPUS I notice that the Shelters are making far more attempts to place instead of euthanize like the did a couple years ago…. FOR THAT I AM “THANKFUL””

  4. Just upets me how people can throw away animals for any reason they should of not had this beautiful dog to begin with now his heart is broken all over again I pray he finds a safe loving home
