On Monday afternoon, a jury in Dedham, Massachusetts found Puppy Doe’s owner guilty of animal cruelty. The abused dog was so cruelly tortured, she had to be humanely euthanized shortly after she was rescued.
Radoslaw Czerkawski, 36, had been charged with 12 counts of animal cruelty and one count of witness intimidation. The conviction comes nearly five years after Puppy Doe was found in August 2013 abandoned in a nearby park. The one-year-old starving female pit bull sustained skull, spine and rib fractures, stab wounds to her eye and a split tongue.
The Washington Post reports Czerkawski was cleared of one count of lying to the police. During the trial, the judge dismissed two of the jurors and replaced them with alternates. Czerkawski will be sentenced on Tuesday.
