In Louisville, Kentucky, a former employee of the Stark County Humane Society has been indicted for animal abuse after using a metal hook to beat the dog. Diquan O’Neal Hall  charged with prohibitions concerning companion animals under Goddard’s Law.

According to CantonRepNews, court documents state Hall used a “metal hooked drain puller” in the kennel and hit the dog in the face. The dog suffered punctures to his face, but has since made a complete recovery.

The humane society issued the following statement after learning of the abuse and reviewing the surveillance videos:

“The mission for the Stark County Humane Society has always been and remains today to be the protection of animals. It is our goal to protect animals from any mistreatment, abuse and cruelty. We house animals and protect animals in an effort to obtain a safe home that would eventually adopt them. Any abuse or cruelty to any animal is 100% against our mission.”

Hall has since been fired.
