In Holiday, Florida, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman alleged to have locked 46 cats and a dog in a hot U-Haul with no food or water.

Acting on repeated complaints from neighbors, authorities arrived at the residence located on Dixie Garden Loop on Saturday and found the locked U-Haul. When opened the cats were discovered locked in stacked cages. Most of the cats were in poor condition and were found sitting in their own urine and feces. There was no air-conditioning in the back of the truck – the heat was stifling. More cats were found in the cab of the truck as well as the dog.

Karen tuttle-Kunnmann, 61, was arrested and charged with 47 counts of animal cruelty. Bond has been set at $5,000 for each count.

Pasco County Animal Control are caring for the animals.

  1. I’m glad they caught her and whacked such a huge bond on top of the charges – she was akready packed to leave if they’d released her. Jail time in solitary sans aircon, no heating (given its approaching Winter) no tv or internet, hefty fines and requirement to pay all bills for each animal she abused for the full term of their need for rescue shelter accommodation and fostering: all veterinary care until restored to full health and if any cannot be fully restored to full health mentally as well as 0hyaically, then all vet bills for those animal’s entire lives. Obviously, I’m fed up with the simple warnings, slapped wrists and pocket money fines these criminals are getting away with. It’s high time they were all made fully accountable not just to the law, but to the community and to those good-hearted souls who will happily adopt animals with health problems incurred by abusers.

    • J. Martin, yep I’m with you. do the same thing to the old broad. I thought, when I was in my 30’s that if I lived long enough, nothing would bother me, well I’m 78, and it seems that most folks are getting meaner and meaner.
I look in wonder that most folks don’t have plain commonsense in their heads.

  2. I agree with previous 2 comments. She should have the same done to her and pay a huge fine as well as pay for the vetting of all these animals.

  3. Would love to see that kind of bond set in every state for animal abuse, we need more standard laws for this for every state! If charged with animal abuse, there is a standard bond set!
