In Melbourne, Florida, a spirited little boy became trapped inside of an arcade claw machine trying to retrieve a few stuffed animals and a football. According to the Titusville Fire  and Emergency Services, four-year-old Mason climbed into the game machine and by the end of the rescue mission, snagged the toys he had been determined to own.

So how did Mason get into the machine? The child crawled up through the machine’s small door where the prize would fall. An off-duty lieutenant from the Titusville Fire Department happened to have been eating dinner at the Beef ‘O’ Brady restaurant and noticed the child inside of the machine. He was quickly able to assess the situation and called for assistance.

“Engine 10 led by Lt. Abernathy, made short work of the situation. Driver Operator Lane and Firefighter George were able to get Mason out in short order with minimal damage to the game. We love a happy ending and are glad everything worked out. Mom, Mason and friends went back to eating dinner, E10 back to their station to await the next call. Pretty sure it won’t be the same as their last,” the department posted on their Facebook.

The entire rescue situation from the time the department was called until Mason was safely back eating dinner, took less than eight-minutes! The damage to the arcade machine was minor. Great job men – you are our heroes.

We know – the entire story begs us all to ask,

“Where were his parents?”

(Even though we all know it only takes a few seconds for children to find mischief)

  1. Exactly! Where were the parents? So why is a 4 year old in a restaurant not being supervised by the parents so he doesn’t do something like this?
