Family brought puppy to veterinarian to be euthanized

A family, who apparently grew tired of caring for their sick puppy, took him to a veterinarian to be euthanized. Fortunately, the unwanted puppy is still alive because a rescue group has taken him under its wing.

On New Year’s Eve, Dachshund Rescue of South Florida alerted its Facebook followers to the sad situation:

“We’ve seen a lot of things over the years, but never have we seen a sick puppy brought to the shelter to be euthanized WITH his medicine after his family grew tired of him, and have his “family” run out the door while the dog was being examined.”

The puppy, named Dagney is now safe and a veterinary team is attempting to find out what is ailing him. The rescue group stated:

We got a call about a “sick puppy” with a “gland problem” whose family had brought him to be euthanized and when we heard his story and saw the photos of the meds that he was surrendered with, our hearts broke and we raced to get him.

We found the little boy we have named Dagney with the right side of his face swollen, emaciated, and shaking in terror and heartbreak. We got him to Leader Animal Specialty Hospital where he is being examined with multiple tests being run to try and figure out what is wrong with him and so far tests are inconclusive…

Funds to help Dagney receive all of the veterinary care that he needs can be made at this link to the rescue agency’s fundraiser.

Did you know that if you want to get updates from a Facebook page, you have to do more than just “like” it? To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”

  1. If they left the meds….then there should be a name on them…. send that sick excuse of humans a fine or a citation and the put their wretched names on a national directory to NEVER be able to have another pet!

    • Exactally. they have now used a shelter as their dump off and with that paperwork as well as documentation will lable at least one person in that clan as an individual who will Not be an ideal pet owner and will not be able to get a pet thru legit animal adoption agency

    • If they are callous enough to dump their dog WITH his medication, then I say PUBLISH the owner’s name or at least give us a good look at the bottles. Call owner’s vet so he/she can give a glowing recommendation the next time they want a perfect dog.

  2. This is a time when maggots like this qualify for retroactive abortions. I would literally do ANYTHING to have my precious Gizmo, Kiwi, Ebbie and many others, with me again even though they had health issues and required lots of care. It’s a special time to bond with your pup in a different way even when you are doing something they don’t like. There’s an expression that says – “You have not lived until you do something for someone who cannot repay you” – John Bunyan.

    • I will think deeply on these words today gizmos mom. The words from you and John Bunyan are a profound revelation.
And instructions for us all to contribute as well as live by.
If you would have left out the unessary words about retro abortion your post would have been banner worthy. And should be a flag we run thru the streets with.

  3. What a rotten deal this “Little Guy ” got for a “so -called -family”.. I hope for the best . Dagney deserves better in his short little life!!

May God bless you and shine His light brightly upon you to be blessed with good health and a caring, compassionate forever home. Angels, please watch over and protect this precious sweet little boy. I’m praying for you, little Dagney. You are loved. xoxox ♥️????????????????????????????????????????????????????♥️

  5. Stop the drama. And thank god the idiots sucked it up and drew the courage to face the music and shame at a God Givin sanctuary center.
Now he’s saved. Breath and say thank you God.
Now a simple investigational to the physical injury sustained while in the their horrible mitts with a conversation with the vet who prescribed the meds
His suffering is over. He has a new life now. With people who care. He’s safe. He’s safe. He’s almost,
    Home

  6. WHAT? Its OK to dump a dog and run out??? Not in my book it sure isn’t. These examples of maggot puke will do this again and again since they have proven they are incapable and irresponsible when it comes to animal care. Who even know if this ‘medication’ was anything useful or just some junk they picked up off a shelf. I hope this little guy pulls through and gets the safe loving home he most definitely never had.
