On October 20, a senior German shepherd named Strong was taken in at California’s Los Angeles County Animal Care Center (Lancaster). Because he had a microchip, he was placed on hold for 11 days so that his family could come to the shelter to claim him…but they never came.
During the month of November, which was #Adoptasenior month, Strong was available for adoption, but still, nobody wanted him. Now he is considered to be urgent and he needs out of the busy facility before he is completely out of time.

So, what this apparently means is that even when animals are implanted with these health-danger causing foreign objects, the people who are listed as the owners are not held responsible for abandonment.
I rescued a min. pin. left in a park with a note on his collar. He had an implant, but I was not allowed to know who the previous owner was, and the only action the company was prepared to take was to transfer the chip into my name.
Such an attractive dog, how can someone NOT want him back. The owners should be charged with abandonment plain and simple. You know whose dog he is, make them take responsibility! May be the next person who does this will think twice before abandoning their dog.
