In a heartbreaking video  caught on a surveillance camera, an emaciated Saluki was seen hobbling onto the front of a garage wearing black football socks. The video, released on Friday, showed the brindle-coated dog wearing the black socks on three of her legs all riddled with open sores; her other leg had been broken.

According to ExpressNews, the dog was rescued from a gas station in Lepton, West Yorkshire last month and she needed to be sedated in order for veterinarians to remove the socks. A Good Samaritan had contacted the RSPCA who have launched an investigation.

Meanwhile, the Saluki, now dubbed Susie is also being treated for sarcoptic mange and ringworm. Susie is currently at the RSPCA’s Greater Manchester Hospital where she has slowly been gaining weight and her health has started to improve, however there are fears she may have to have her front leg amputated.

“Her skin conditions, which are contagious, means she is having to be kept in isolation and is receiving daily treatment, and it looks as though her broken leg will need to be amputated as it had started to heal in the wrong position,” stated Inspector Goulding of the RSPCA.

Anyone who recognizes this dog is asked to contact the RSPCA and call 0300 123 8018.

  1. Please save this beautiful dog who is suffering so much due to human neglect. How could someone just leave her like this with socks on her paws and not at least take her to a shelter for care. Say you found her wandering the streets alone and no questions asked. Instead you leave her alone to wander around? I pray she doesn’t have to have her right leg amputated, but if necessary, she is in the right place. Pray for this innocent dog.

  2. Many prayers and blessings ti Susie, her Great Samaritan and caregivers! Find the owner and start amputating–one body part at a time!

  3. Thoughts and Prayers for this precious girl, she deserves to be properly cared for and not euthanised. She has obviously never had any love and affection in her life, is intelligent as she sought help for her desperate situation. Someone please step up to adopt her when she is healthy enough to be given a home. Big cuddles for you precious girl.
