An emaciated female tiger found a home in the remote village of Russia’s Solontsovy to quietly seek help and wait on a man’s porch. The Amur tiger, a cat known to shun any human contact, was in agony – she desperately needed dental health and could barely eat.

According to IFL Science,  the exhausted cat spent the entire day lying outside the house until an emergency team from the Amur Tiger Center arrived to help. Once the cat was sedated, volunteers were able to transport her to their rehabilitation center where she is now being treated for an infection in her mouth and gums.

As reported in the Siberian Times, Galina Tsimano described how her neighbor, Alexey Khaideyev, found the tiger in the early morning hours.

“He wanted to go out into the yard in the morning, but his door was pressed by ‘someone from outside,'” Galina stated.

And as Alexey pushed the door open, something outside growled; at which time he quickly closed the door and called emergency services for help. The ten-year-old tiger remained very quiet as if she had been waiting for someone to help her, volunteers from the tiger sanctuary described. Her upper teeth are all missing, and the tooth loss had left her unable to eat rendering her exhausted and emaciated.

At this time, it is not known if the tiger will survive. She is being fed ground meat with antibiotics.  Amur (Siberian) tigers are endangered. It is believed there are only 500 left in the wild in eastern Russia.

  1. poor beasts. I really feel bad for them all over the world. good grief, stop having all these kids. so many children need to be adopted, leave room for these wild animals. they have a right to be here as well as us.

    • you got it linda, a tiger didn’t loose its teeth in the Russian tundra and does not seek out human intervention. stolen from a mother after she was shot for fun and held captive in a barn untill captors got boared. its a cry in shame. humans are no stranger to this now unwild animal who is broken lonely and dying at such a young age. but she will live. she has to eat and then retired to a sanctuary. so she can find love and comfort with others like her. or she has to be sent out of the country here in the states.she can live with retired circus animals and not live her days starving in the freeze

  2. I pray this poor animal survives – when will humans finally realize we are killing off all wildlife – soon there will be none left if things don’t change and we start protecting those who have as much right to live as humans do. It’s no wonder I have so little use for the human population who feel they have every right to use animals as they please – we will pay for this sooner or later.

  3. Hope she gets better and can be released into the wild again. If not, hope they will send her to a sanctuary so she can educate more people about this beautiful animal.
