An official diagnosis, as well as an exciting update, have been provided for a puppy who was recently dumped on a road in Texas. The pup, dubbed Republic, was near death when she was dumped on a road nearly two weeks ago – after being rescued, she continued to fight to survive.

The diagnosis

On May 25, the rescue agency caring for Republic announced that the pup’s official diagnosis is severe gastric infection that was left untreated and resulted in sepsis shock. Republic was also severely malnourished and suffering from a serious parasite infestation which resulted in anemia.

Exciting news

Though Republic’s condition was grim, she is doing much better today. In fact, on Monday her rescuers announced that she has left the veterinary hospital and joined a foster home! On Monday morning, a video of Republic was posted to Facebook along with a few words about her first night:

#Republic did amazing in her foster home last night.
She is learning about love and toys and living the spoiled life.
This is the moment every rescuer waits to see in a dog they save.
Look at this happy girl!

If Republic had not been found after she was abandoned, she would have died. Given the severity of her condition when she was discovered, it appears that her short life was one of neglect. Better days are ahead for this sweet puppy – a life that she deserves is finally here.

So glad Republic is recovering and in a safe loving foster home – I only hope the subhuman trash that dumped her isn’t so lucky – may they get exactly what they deserve – a date with an 18 wheeler that leaves them splattered all over a Texas roadway. THAT would be justice for Republic.

Thanks for the wonderful update. Republic looks so happy. She is able to be a puppy, probably for the 1st time in her short life. I hope she get a home with someone to love and spoil her and not someone that wants her because of her notoriety. Probably not a popular thing to say but when you consider how people said they want HER. When they don’t get her, since she is only one dog, how many will go to their shelter and adopt another dog? Not very many I predict.

This has been a AWSOME group effort ( Especially for TEXAS) hopefully there has been a change in some of the attitude down there about Making an effort to help The enormous amount of dogs that are dumped in this state with horrific signs of abuse and neglect… I am proud and happy the REPUBLIC has rallied with care and that she will find a caring and loving family… A good JOB to all of those that have finally taken a STAND !!

How in the world can anyone dump a dog much less a sick one who is suffering.

Bless the Vet who helped Republic, bless the foster mom/home….and I hope someone KNOWS who owned, abused and deserted this beautiful pup!! Find them and throw them in a deep, dark, hole and walk away. Let them see what abandonment and terror feel like.

I hope the scumbag who dumped this poor dog gets mauled by a group of wild hogs and ripped apart while they are alive. Suffer in pain slowly is the best medicine for this useless subhuman. Slowly rot and have your body thrown on the side of a lonely road.
