Three weeks ago, Jessica Donges’s two dogs disappeared from the backyard of her Medical Lake, Washington home. Though she and her family searched the entire area, the two German shepherds seemed to have vanished from the face of the earth.

According to KREM News, the big break in the missing dog case happened when Jessica carefully walked her fence-line again and discovered an area where the dogs likely broke out…she then found another fence behind her home and found herself near an old missile silo.

Missing dogs were hidden from sight

While investigating the area, she heard a bark – which led to more investigating. Shortly thereafter, she walked through a door and discovered a huge hole. Sure enough, the missing dogs, Zeus and Ziva, were down in the hole…cold, wet and hungry, but very much alive.

The dogs began frantically barking when they saw their owner – Jessica called the fire department for assistance and the dogs were freed from the soggy hole where they had been trapped for three weeks. Between the two dogs, a total of 55 pounds was lost – but the dogs survived and are expected to recover, something Jessica finds miraculous given the length of time that they were gone.

  1. Good new article for a change. Nice to see these dogs are back with their owner, minus some weight which I am sure they will put back on with good foods.

  2. So glad Ms. Donges was diligent and found her dogs, wet, hungry but alive. Now all Zeus and Ziva need is a warm bath, food and lots of hugs.
