Two dogs belonging to a Washington family whose SUV plunged over a seaside cliff in northern California are missing, as are three of the couple’s children. According to KGW News, a day after Monday’s fatal crash from Highway 1, local animal control officers entered the home of Jennifer and Sarah Hart to retrieve the family’s pets…but they were nowhere to be found.

Evidence that the dogs lived at the home was present, but the dogs were gone – an animal control officer did find chickens, a duck and ducklings, and a cat. The animals were taken and are safe.

It is a mystery where the dogs are, and it is still unknown where three of the couple’s six adopted children are. The bodies of Jennifer and Sarah Hart, as well as those of 19-year-old Markis Hart, and Jeremiah Hart and Abigail Hart, both 14, were found with the wreckage, but 16-year-old Hannah, 15-year-old Devonte, and 12-year-old Sierra, are still unaccounted for.

According to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, the SUV driven by the Harts left the roadway and traveled approximately 75 feet into the Pacific Ocean with no signs of braking – however, the authorities have stated that there is no reason to assume that the incident was intentional.

Neighbors of the Hart family had contacted Child Protective Services with concerns about the couple’s kids shortly before the family in their SUV and headed to California.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of the Hart family’s dogs is asked to call animal control at 360-397-2488.

  1. Such a tragedy, I’ve been following this but had no idea dogs were among the missing. What could have happened, and why. I pray for all concerned.

    • I saw the news no mention of dogs, but, I think the couple committed suicide to avoid child abuse charges. Where was the child services?!!!! The assholes had a history of abusing them..they (2 children) even begged next door neighbors for help.

  2. THIS is a VERY strange scenario!!!! To say the LEAST!!! Why would they be over 500 miles from home with NO BAGGAGE!!!! they need to go back to the prior STATE and Town where this family came from and trace the happenings forward!!!!

    • pennysdachshud, I believe they (the couple) committed suicide along with all their children… no tire skidding marks. Think of it who would go to the edge of a cliff with a car and drive over it?

  3. The children said they were starved from eating food. Along with beatings!!!! You fuckers. So much for DSS for not doing their job!!!!
