A small terrier that tormented and chased a large crocodile for the last ten years has been eaten by the reptile on the banks of Australia’s river Adelaide. The tiny pooch, named Pippa, was famous for chasing the saltwater crocodile named Casey away while she relaxed on the side of the river.
According to Yahoo News, Pippa attracted tourists who were amazed how the tiny pooch, nicknamed “Dumb Blonde,” would taunt the nasty reptile on the remote Goat Island Lodge, only accessible by an hour’s boat ride. Pippa’s owner, Kai Hansen was there when Casey finally had enough and caught Pippa in her huge jaws and dragged her into the river while horrified onlookers screamed and cried.
In the video recently posted to Facebook, Pippa can be seen running towards the crocodile, but in an instant Casey grabbed the dog and dragged her into the water. (Be warned the video is very disturbing and is not suitable for all viewing audiences)
“It was something that had a high probability of happening sometime,” stated Hansen although he said he was “really sad.”
Hansen does not blame Casey, who measures in at 11 feet, explaining that’s just what crocodiles do. Years ago, Hansen said he had almost been attacked by the reptile, but nowadays he just throws food out (meat) from the top, and no one is allowed below near the river.
Hansen has posted videos online for many years showing the 15-pound Pippa chasing the croc and admits he has encouraged the dog to chase Casey; comparing the dog’s action similar to chasing cars.
Rest in peace Pippa.
“Personally I think Hansen is a creep and should never be allowed to own any pets. What kind of a dog owner allows his pet to be in danger just for a tourist attraction and a few bucks?,” one angry woman posted on Facebook.
