In Hollywood, California, Milo, a Shar-Pei and beagle mixed breed, suffered a broken back and severely injured back legs after he was apparently thrown off the fourth story of a building landing on the roof of the adjacent two-story building.

The Los Angeles Animal Cruelty Task Force is currently investigating and believe Milo had been thrown from the top level of the apartment building. According to AbcNews, the two-and-a-half-year-old pooch had been under the care of a pet sitter hired through the company Rover.com.

The surgeon who operated on Milo stated the dog’s prognosis for  a full recovery is slim.

“The broken back with this type of severity most likely permanently paralyzed,” stated Dr. Laurent Guiot of Access Animal Hospital in Culver City.

Fortunately, Milo’s front legs are still moving and he is expected to be fitted with a set of canine wheels to allow him to become mobile once again.

Milo’s owner, Solomon Lee, is heartbroken  and told news media he cannot believe people can be so cruel. Lee said he had hired the dog sitter using the Rover app, but when he came to pick his dog up on Monday, the dog caretaker said Milo had run away. A Rover representative says the company has launched their own investigation and are currently paying for all of Milo’s medical treatment. The dog sitter is no longer employed by the company.

It took two hours to find Milo and firefighters had to use a ladder to get to the injured pup.

  1. I would NEVER hire somebody from a company like that! I would only fully vet the people myself. Charges should be pressed against that person and hopefully he/she will spend a long time in jail.

  2. I suppose the Dog Sitter would have us believe Milo ran away and jumped off the top of the building? Prayers for Milo and his family, I can’t imagine the heartbreak. You trust your precious pup to someone who is supposed to be trustworthy and this happens.
