Dog shot in the face still waits for a home

A dog who survived being shot in the face, which resulted in the loss of his lower jaw, is still waiting for a home of his own. The four-year-old dog, named Chopper, is being cared for by Indiana’s Humane Society for Hamilton County. On Wednesday morning, the animal shelter issued a plea on the dog’s behalf.

The shelter wrote:

“Today, Chopper sits in our kennels, waiting for his forever family to come and find him. He’s growing increasingly anxious and depressed and his appetite has declined.”

For awhile, Chopper was able to live in a foster home, and he apparently relished the time! The shelter stated, “Chopper was living the life of a dog! He would play, snuggle, and spend time with his family – dogs included!”

Chopper has some special needs – he is heartworm positive and requires treatment. He also needs to eat pureed food because of his missing jaw – other than that, he is a loving dog who has proved himself to be a survivor.

  1. How sad is that to this poor soul, he did not ask for such cruel torture from humans. Sending prayers for him to find a caring home.

    • Ask about that on his FB thread above, he was living with other dogs so I don’t think it would be a problem.

  2. A special person or persons will take this baby and transform him into a beautiful dog. I know this will happen and he will live out the rest of his love with his people

  3. Awww Poor baby ????????????????????????????????????????????_ my husband says only one for me & I have a 3 yr old blue pit already

  4. PLEASE some kindhearted human in Indiana step up for this dog – he was treated horribly and deserves a safe loving home – you will never regret adopting him and will have unconditional love – don’t let this ‘shelter’ put him down – he definitely deserves MUCH better and you can be the one to give it to him.
