Days ago, a cancer-stricken dog was saved from euthanasia in the eleventh hour – Arlo, a yellow Labrador retriever, had already been sedated to be put to sleep, but on March 23, Leave No Paws Behind, Inc., swooped in to alert the animal shelter that they would take him, and he was saved.

Arlo was rushed to the Pet Doctors of Sherman Oaks and his condition was evaluated – the rescue group explained what happened next:

“We weighed all of our options including humane euthanasia to relive what suffering he appeared to be in HOWEVER one look at this boy smiling when he arrived at the vets sealed his fate! He wanted us to try, he wanted us to give him a chance and give him a chance we did!”

Arlo was provided with emergency surgery and a massive 7-pound tumor was removed from his body. Shortly after surgery, Arlo was back on his feet and showing signs that he already felt better after the tumor removal. One of the dog’s legs will have to be amputated because it has been confirmed that he has Osteosarcoma, but the cancer has not yet spread to his chest or lungs – so there is hope for his future.

The rescue group stated:

Whatever the future may bring for this big boy, he now knows that he is so loved, safe from all harm and that no matter what, his life matters  He knows that someone cared enough to “listen” to his pleas and give him a chance

Did you know that if you want to get updates from a Facebook page, you have to do more than just “like” it? To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”

  2. Leave no Paws Behind Inc. saved this innocent even though it looked like there wasn’t much hope for him as he was. Great save. Rewards are many. Arlo is blessed to have you in his corner. The vets are so very special to try. This brings me to tears because i didn’t think there was anyone like that anymore. Hugs to Arlo and all of his saviors.
