Dog dubbed Archer fights for his life after impaled with an arrow

In Houston, Texas, Archer was picked up late Sunday evening after Animal Control found him with an arrow through his body. Red Collar Rescue was notified and asked if they could help.

Archer was rushed to the emergency veterinary hospital where his condition was listed as critical. Initial radio-graphs revealed the arrow had penetrated his thorax, diaphragm, abdomen and liver. He was bleeding internally. The only way to further assess Archer’s condition and a need for surgery would be with a CT scan.

Upon the advice of the emergency veterinarian, Archer was transferred Sunday night to Texas A&M where his condition will be further evaluated.

“Please pry that steps can be taken to save Archer’s life,” the rescue group wrote on Facebook, “and we have a chance to show him the good side of humans.”
