A dog died after being left overnight in a Michigan veterinarian’s car. According to multiple sources, Dr. Martin McLaughlin called the incident “embarrassing,” and claims that the dog likely died from something other than heat stroke.

What Happened To The Dog Who Died?

Dr. McLaughlin told WXYZ News that the two-year-old Labrador retriever, named Trigger, was having stomach issues the day before he died. The veterinarian would not tell the news agency what treatment he had provided to the young dog and he opted out of performing a necropsy to determine the actual cause of death. Trigger has already been buried.

The Fallout After Trigger’s Death

One of Dr. McLaughlin’s employees was so upset about the young dog’s death that she quit working at his Trenton veterinary office. Though the veterinarian denies that the extended period of time in the vehicle claimed Trigger’s life, a member of his staff has stated that the dog appeared to be in good health the day before he died in the truck.

Now that the incident, which McLaughlin’s lawyer refers to as a mistake, has been reported to the authorities, it will be investigated.

The veterinarian has been arrested in the past and he has a laundry list of criminal misdeeds including Malicious Destruction of Property and Improper Possession of a Firearm and Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer.

  1. He calls himself a veterinarian! Check again u DONT LEAVE AN ANIMAL in a vehicle I guess your among the POS’s that are roaming the earth to destroy the animlas… he needs to be locked up in a vehicle over night!!!

  2. The tragedy of a dog dying in his car is “embarrassing?” What a horrible excuse of a human being. I wouldn’t take stuffed dog to him much less a real one.

  3. Buried already! If this were my dog I would sue the c … out of him. Also, I would not rest until I had all the answers!

Also, I pray that this is his last tragic victim! Rest in peace, little angel Trigger!

  4. Can’t be much of a vet if he won’t admit that leaving Trigger in the vehicle for so long, given all the heat, even if it was overnight, is what caused his death.

Oh, wait, he BURIED the evidence!

Sounds like he does know, and decided to conceal evidence of a crime.

Not only is he not much of a vet, he’s a despicable, common criminal with absolutely no regard for his patients.
    Pure trash.

  5. “Mistake”, “embarrasing”? Really that is what you say when you kill a dog? This POS and his “laundry list” of offenses needs be be in jail and not treating innocent animals! Please put him away and take away his license.

  6. Of course he needs to be investigated!!!! Denial means everything for some. OH .. not my fault. I left the dog .. in my vehicle in scorching heat BUT .. it’s not my fault

  7. Wow!! Sounds like this Individual WHO calls himself a Vet!!! Has a lot of issues along the line of ethical practice to Begin With and has had NUMEROUS SCRAPES with the LAW… Then he was DAMN quick to Cover up this Major Mistake!!! His staff is not supporting him and he needs a REVIEW Board to do an investigation ASAP!!! That poor dog deserved much better than what he Got in his short Life!!

  8. The veterinarian has been arrested in the past and he has a laundry list of criminal misdeeds including Malicious Destruction of Property and Improper Possession of a Firearm and Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer.
HOW DID HE GET A VET LICENSE? Isn’t there a moral code that must apply?

  9. McLaughlin in no way should be considered a veterinarian – he has proven by his statements alone that he is nothing more than an animal abuser. I wouldn’t take a dead rat to this fake bastard. He should have his license revoked – sure, leave your dog in a car overnight and walk away – this idiot has the compassion of a doorknob. I hope the citizens of Trenton realize this guy will not treat your animals with any sort of professionalism, compassion or concern – Tigger died at the hands of a lousy example of a human, much less a veterinarian. He lied and just by reading the post – it is obvious he is covering up his cruelty.

  10. PEOPLE…….Check out your Vet’s!!! DO not just take them to any vet….because there are many out there like this monster who ONLY do it as a job…they do not care about animals, only making money. You need to find a Vet that LOVES animals and CARES about animals.

  11. There is no excuse for having to of lost this dogs life. And he knew he was wrong otherwise he would not of hurried to get it buried. It is time to start taking away licenses from these less than responsible subhumans.

  12. There is absolutely no reason for this precious dog to of lost his life . It is time that these irresponsible subhuman individuals that claim to be veterinarians, lose their license and go find other work where they will never be able to harm anyones dog ever again…. Like go have him work in a hardware store where you can’t kill nuts and bolts!!!
