In what has been described as an abusive argument, a dog bit a woman’s foot on the NYC Number 4 subway train in Manhattan. The New York City police are searching for the owner of the dog.

According to the Daily News, witnesses stated the woman asked the owner to move his dog when it accidentally bumped her on a seat. The woman, not waiting for the dog’s owner to respond, repeatedly pushed the dog off the seat near her. The man then pushed the woman. When the woman hit the man back, the protective dog responded and bit into the woman’s sneaker.

The video shows the crowd yelling as the dog refused to let go. The woman took off her sneaker and the dog finally released it. The man and dog left. An eyewitness during the entire situation posted the video on his Facebook:

#Dog was NOT VICIOUS PRIOR.. ONLY UNTIL AFTER THE FIGHT STARTED”

The New York City’s Metropolitan Transit Authority pet dogs must be in a carrier. Leashed service and emotional support animals are allowed to ride the subway with their owners with no restrictions. Most small dog owners ride with their pets in portable carriers. Those owning medium sized dogs and large dogs have become more creative, but why not follow the rules and avoid situations like this?

  1. If the lady had just left them alone, there would have been no problem. the dog was just sitting there and not bothering her.

    • Actually … apparently IT WAS –> the woman asked the owner to move his dog when it accidentally bumped her on a seat. The woman, not waiting for the dog’s owner to respond, repeatedly pushed the dog off the seat near her. (Now that looks like a fair size dog to me .. what the hell is it doing on a seat? If it’s anywhere .. they are suppose to be on the floor)
If pets are required to be in a carrier .. then they should be IN .. a carrier. Maybe the lady could have waited for a reply before doing it! But .. the “owner” should have at least been paying attention to what the dog was doing. Perhaps the lady might have been allergic, or didn’t want dog hair all over her. Pets are in a carrier to (a) keep them safe .. and (b) others safe. The owner thinks he’s above everyone comfort tho.

  2. You were wrong lady…. shouldn’t have pushed him off…but the guy should have had better control over him….sad….

    • No .. technically she wasn’t. The guy’s dog was on a seat? OH hell no. A fair size dog .. sitting on a seat? And this guy .. pushed this woman. THAT .. is assault. She shoved him back .. the dog bit . I don’t care what the dog thought. I don’t blame the dog however. I blame the ignorant OWNER!!! The guy didn’t pay attention to what his dog was doing .. Pretty careless of him. Considering it’s suppose to be in a carrier. That rule is in place for a reason. Maybe she’s allergic, or doesn’t like dogs, maybe she didn’t want dog hair on her. Carriers keep the animal safe .. and protect others around too.

  3. I would imagine it’s hard to get around in NYC with a medium or large dog. If they can’t ride the subway, how do you transport them, cab or bus? The dog was fine until the stupid woman started poking and pushing the dog, starting a pushing match, hitting it’s owner probably made the dog defensive. I would hope my dog would defend me too. It doesn’t say how badly the woman was hurt, I doubt very much if anything. Hopefully the owner of the dog has learned a lesson and will not take the dog on the subway again.

  4. Why can’t HUMANS stop acting like assholes. Now they blame the dog for defending himself. Wish the dog had chewed you foot off. Bet that adjusted her attitude. TYPICAL.

    • She was acting proper. The guy was out of line. If his dog was on a seat near her .. and bumped her … I’d shove it off too. ** -> the woman asked the owner to move his dog when it accidentally bumped her on a seat. The woman, not waiting for the dog’s owner to respond, repeatedly pushed the dog off the seat near her.
If it was on a seat .. it shouldn’t have been ON A SEAT! The dog .. is required to be in a carrier and it wasn’t. Yes .. she pushed dog off.
The owner pushed her (umm assault). She pushed back, The dog bit her. To be honest .. the guy’s lucky she didn’t have a gun. She could have easily SHOT the dog. I don’t blame the dog for being protective . I blame the owner .. for being an ignorant ASS! He sure didn’t seem to care his dog was doing anything.

      • I’ve seen you “jump” on people who’s opinion doesn’t agree with yours several times. Who died and left you in charge??

If the lady hadn’t started a ruckus she wouldn’t have gotten bit. I don’t care what her reasons were, she was wrong. She should have changed seats or cars.

      • So, it’s OK to push the dog, without waiting for a response from the person with the dog, but when the pusher is pushed, “(umm assault)”.

It sounds like a double standard to me, which many people still have (the old “I’m more important because I’m a sacred human” attitude), and which is why I avoid most people as much as possible, and am so glad I don’t have to ever take the subway.

Maybe SHE should consider herself lucky that HE didn’t have a gun, as she started the physical shoving first.

    • I agree, she should have left the dog alone he wasn’t doing anything to her, she just wanted to cause trouble and got more than she bargained for. I hope they leave the poor dog alone.

  5. If anyone should be banned from the subway, it should be the heartless woman. The police shouldn’t bother looking for the man and the dog — the city has enough crimes to keep the police busy. Any dog protecting his owner is a good dog.

  6. If the silly bitch had left them alone & sane with clown that videos it not to post it all would be Ok mouthy bitch got her just deserts in my opinion

  7. I blame the woman! She was abusive to this poor dog and its owner! They should put her in jail and leave the dog alone! She needs to be charged with assault and battery!

    • THANK YOU May Ann Clark – You see it just like I do – she started it and is lucky the dog only grabbed her sneaker. Hope they never find the owner.

  8. The dog was only doing what dogs do……….protect their owners. The old bat shouldn’t have been pushing the dog or hitting the man. She was a cranky old witch.

  9. I would rather sit next to a dog on the subway than some of the stink ass humans – this woman is completely at fault – she pushed the dog, not once, but a few times and the owner responded – she is lucky the dog did not take a chunk out of her ass – I have 0 sympathy for her – she started it – the dog was protecting his owner. I hope authorities never find the owner. This idiot female caused the whole mess herself.
