A dog is recuperating from severe injuries after wandering into a yard in Hamilton, Texas, and being attacked by a man with a machete. According to KXXV News, authorities who responded to Eric Norton’s home were given a couple of stories about what happened on March 21.

At one point, Norton claimed that the black pit bull was in his yard, killing his cat, when the machete attack took place…he also claimed that he found the dog in his yard and took him inside so that he could “check Facebook” to see if anyone had reported their dog missing. Norton told the police that he put the dog in a room, forgetting that his cat was in there, and “saw red,” after the dog killed his cat.

The dog suffered a huge injury on his shoulder after being attacked with the machete. Chief Keith Madison told the news agency that the dog’s owners will be given a citation for allowing their dog to run at large, and Norton will face an animal cruelty charge – he explained:

“He’ll be arrested for animal cruelty, a Class A misdemeanor, booked in and placed in county jail. He’ll post bond to get out and the case will be presented to the county attorney’s office for prosecution and that ranges, in a penalty, not to exceed 4,000 dollars or not to exceed one year in jail or both.”

The dog’s owners have started a fundraiser to help pay for veterinary expenses – click here to read more.

  1. So now a new weapon of choice is a machete. Don’t we all have one in our homes?Get ride of this owner and his stupidity if he indeed put a strange dog into a room in his home that supposedly had his cat it there.Never leave your dog outside along to wander or even get stolen.

  2. A “MACHATE” Is that NOW the weapon of choice for “TEXAS WACK-A-DOOTEL’S!!! Maybe this one could be used to Neuter the 2 legged “Dootle” so he doesn’t REPRODUCE !!! This is Most Certainly “Over the Top and Over Kill” he needs to sit for a Couple Years in a Texas Cell Block!!!

  3. The POS who hurt the dog should have to pay the veterinarian bills. Yes, I know the owner was cited, too, but most people who find a stray dog don’t attack it.

  4. Once again, a horrible incident to an animal because the PET PARENT IS TOO irresponsible to keep the pet contained in their own home or yard!!!

  5. He put a strange dog in a room with his cat because he ‘forgot’ the cat was in there? He is either a complete idiot, or he is lying. I suspect a little of both, but mostly that he is lying.

    • Totally agree! and didn’t the cat make any noise if the dog was attacking him? Did the police find any blood on the cat that matched the dog’s blood? Too many unknown’s, I’ll bet the guy’s lying. Fine the owners of the dog too because it wasn’t contained.

      • This idiot is lying through his green teeth – don’t believe one word of this piss poor excuse – o sure, the machete just happened to be there when this dog supposedly killed your cat – that you conveniently ‘forgot’ was in the room. Hell, this Texas turd needs to pay all the medical bills.

  6. What if it wasn’t the dog that killed the cat? His mix up of explanations and weird choice of defense don’t smell right.

  7. The article doesn’t say anything about whether there was actually a cat and what its condition was. I think this monster is just that – a monster. Not telling the truth, that’s for sure. Sharing and praying for a quick recovery for the dog.

  8. So which is it? The dog was attacking his cat in the yard or he took the dog inside and put him in a room with the cat? Has anyone seen the cat’s body? Was there EVEN a cat? According to the KXXV News report, he was intoxicated and went “over to the talk to the dog’s owner to make things right”, I thought he didn’t know whose dog it was? The one who should be paying for the vet bills is the POS that used a machete on the poor dog! Texas at it’s best, it keeps getting worse!
