A dog, abandoned with a note stating that he needs a new home, was found tied to a no dogs sign near a beach in South Carolina. According to Live 5 News, the dog was found at Folly Beach on Thursday afternoon.

Good Samaritan finds abandoned dog

Tanya Niketas was the good Samaritan who discovered the abandoned dog. She told the news agency, “”It was disturbing, to say the least.” In a Facebook post, she described how the black and white dog was found:

“He had no water, only the role of tape they used to put up the ‘he needs a new home’ sign.”

Abandoned dog’s fate

The woman who found the dog contacted the Folly Beach animal control – the dog has since been turned over to Pet Helpers, a James Island adoption center. “The animals we take in will stay here until they find their forever home,” Pet Helpers Director of Shelter Operations Melissa Susko said.

Reward for information

The adoption center is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever abandoned the nine-month-old pup.

  1. A puppy no less. Coward could have easily taken the pup into a shelter and say he found the dog especially if there is no microchip. Man up and do the right thing for a pup you scum.

  2. Thank goodness someone came along before it was too late for this pup. Some POS did this with no thought or caring as to what could have happened to this poor dog. I’m glad he/she is in good hands now.

  3. I’m not receiving any “confirm follows” or ‘new comments”, and I don’t know why. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks very much for your help.

  4. There were angel’s watching over this young pup that has a lifetime of love and companionship to give SOMEONE who will LOVE HIM IN RETURN

  5. I swear I wish people had to be approved and licensed to own a pet. That way when they show up somewhere…. you know who to THROW IN JAIL for abuse or murder of a pet. People are so flipping lazy they want a puppy…but not the expense or responsibility of a full grown dog. That is just asinine. If you DO NOT WANT the pet to be a family member………….DO NOT GET ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They depend on you 100% to be their companion, family and source of food and care. If you can’t handle it – don’t get one!
