A dog who was abandoned with a note is finally getting his very own “happy tail.” Zeus, a young German shepherd/Labrador retriever mix, was found tied to a tree in the woods of Virginia’s Prince George County earlier this month – accompanying him was a bag of food, and a sad note which was written by his former owner.

The note stated that Zeus’ owner was “out of options,” and that she was unable to afford her dog. The note also read, “she tried to find me a home but nobody would take me.” Zeus was taken in at the Prince George County Animal Shelter which posted his photo and his sad story – the shelter wrote:

“We’re in search of a home for Zeus who will love and care for him no matter what happens. Zeus was completely failed by his last owner when he was left tied to a tree with a “goodbye note” attached to his collar. Can you be Zeus’ forever family?”

The tide has turned for this young dog – according to the shelter, he has been adopted. Finally, his own “happy tail” ending. Enjoy your new home Zeus!

  2. Great news for Zeus. Sorry his owner couldn’t get herself help so she could keep him. Want to give her the benefit of the doubt and am sure it was hard to walk away from him. People need to figure out ways to keep their pets and there should be more organizations ready to help people who have fallen on hard times.

  3. Hell !!! thankfully he was found… had it been where I live it could have been weeks or months before another individual walked the same path and found this little dog…. Holy Moley was he ever lucky… I hope his new family takes much better care of this little guy as He deserves a Good Live!!!

  4. I understand not being able to take care of a dog and giving him/her up, but to leave the dog all alone in the woods, where there are wild animals was not only foolish but very selfish. You should have taken your pup, to a shelter. Thank you to this rescue and to the wonderful people who adopted him

  5. Zeus WINS!!! Someone saw what a great dog he is and gave him the safe loving home he never had. The previous owner gets no sympathy from me – to dump Zeus in the woods tied to a tree w/a pitiful note plying for sympathy is a bunch of crap – IF you really cared, you would never have taken him into the woods and only by luck was he found. You are the loser, Zeus is the winner!!

  6. I agree what moron would do that. If the owner could not find someone to take the dog do the responable thing and take him to a shelter. That person was cruel and heartless. Obviously didnt want to take responsibility
