A disturbing online video which showed a young woman picking up a small dog and hurling it against a bedroom wall led to an investigation and police seizing four dogs from her home. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at a home located in Chard, Somerset, United Kingdom.
The RSPCA was inundated with calls about the 14-second video, which was shared on Facebook more than 40,000 times as animal advocates tried to save the dog being tortured, according to the Daily Mail. The video began with the young woman standing on a bed holding the dog in her arms. She smiled as she leaned back hurling the dog several feet into the wall as the scared pup bounced back onto the bed. The dog tried desperately to run away, but the girl grabbed the dog by the neck and threw it into the wall again. She was about to pick the dog up for the third time when the video stopped.
The Avon and Somerset Constabulary located the girl’s home and seized four dogs. The case has been referred to the RSPCA.
“We are aware of this issue and understand the dogs have been taken into police care. We are so grateful to people who report suspected animal suffering to us and we would like to reassure people we will always look into, and if necessary, investigate any complaints made to us about animal welfare.”
Warning: The video is extremely distressing and may not be suitable for all viewing audiences. Video can be seen here.
