Deputies searching for culprit who severed dog’s tendons in her back legs

In Logan County, West Virginia, deputies from the sheriff’s department are asking for the public’s help finding the culprit who severed the dog’s tendons in her back legs. Authorities believe it was a deliberate case of animal cruelty.

According to the rescue group, Paws Squad, who is caring for the dog now dubbed Clarice, she is not able to walk, and is both severely emaciated and dehydrated after she was found on Wednesday. Investigators state a woman had called 911 from the Rossmore area where she found the dog. The dog had been wearing a collar, but there was no information on it.

According to veterinarians, Clarice’s leg tendons had been sliced. The “worst leg” with all of the tendons exposed had two cuts – one straight across and one up and down which resulted in severing the tendons and separating the muscles. Surgery was performed. Pins and screws will hold the leg together. The left leg will need to have the same procedure performed, and after eight weeks, hopefully she will be able to walk once all the surgical hardware is able to be removed.

Tragically, Clairice’s injuries appear to be a month old. How she endured the pain and even survived is amazing.

West Virginia (Elkins,Clarksburg) where my aunt, and my stepfather hailed from… They were good and loving people… People should read the book series by author Julia Keller about the horrific drug abuse and trafficking , dog fighting rings, in that section of our country… What the Hell did this poor dog do to PISS someone of so bad they would Stoop to doing an EVIL , EVIL , Crippling Act like this to a HARMLESS DOG… or WAS IT the OWNER that THEY were giving NOTICE TO… There should be some GONAD REMOVAL INVOLVED to the Demonic Ass Wipe that crippled this loving little lady…. YOU SHOULD BE TOAST!!

Pennydaschunds, might I suggest instead white hot burning flames rather than toast. I too feel your anger at this and so much sympathy for precious Clarice. I noticed from the photos at the Vets that she has no padded bed to lay on, merely a cloth between her pain and the bars of the pen she is confined to. Whilst I acknowledge the practicality for sanitation purposes, surely they can do better for this poor darling.

Poor Clarice and what she has gone through and been like this for at least a month. What vile monsters did this to her and why? There has to be a reason, sick as it may be, that someone actually, intentionally did this to Clarice. Police need to pursue this crime and find this evil thing that did this to her. Hopefully these surgeries will help her so that she can walk again. Thanks to the vets and Paws Squad for helping Clarice recover.
