Cruel trick: Woman told dog to ‘fetch’ and drove away

A Pennsylvania woman, in a cruel trick of abandonment and animal cruelty, told her dog to “fetch” after opening the door of her van on the side of a busy Westmoreland County roadway late last week and then quickly drove away.

According to PennLive, Mandy Nicole Shaffer, 29, is alleged to have stopped her vehicle, opened the door, threw a ball, told the 18-month-old boxer mix named Tank to “fetch” and sped away while the dog chased the ball. News source Pittsburgh CbsLocal reports witnesses Danielle Steeley and her daughter spotted Shaffer throwing the ball and then speeding away.

The women rescued Tank and have been caring for him. After conferring with Cross Your Paws Rescue and finding the owner, the women have decided to adopt him. Describing Tank, Danielle who is obviously already deeply in love with the friendly pooch,  refers to him as “part marshmallow.”

“He’s a loving dog,” she says. “He’ll lick you to death. He actually sleeps with my daughter and cuddles with her every night.”

For now Tank is only a guest in the Steeley home, but it is hoped a judge makes the final decision that Tank has found his “forever home.” Shaffer has been charged with animal cruelty.

You read this wrong – the woman and her daughter rescued Tank and want to keep him – they did not throw him out, a female maggot named Mandy Nicole Shaffer is the one who did it.

Is there any question of where Tank belongs? Not in my mind. If the judge doesn’t allow him to stay, I’ll be really ticked off.

How fortunate for Tank that Danielle Steeley and her daughter were there to see the disgusting thing that Mandy Nicole Shaffer did to her dog! I do hope the Steeley’s are able to keep Tank, it sounds like he hit the jackpot. I hope they throw the book at POS Shaffer and there is some justice in this for Tank!

That sick b**** needs to be locked up for one year minimum. Fined $10,000 and then her name placed on a national registry so that she may never own, buy or adopt another animal for the rest of her useless life.

A big thumbs up to Danielle Steeley and her daughter for rescuing this beautiful dog. I hope that the judge considering this case does the right thing and grants them custody of Tank.

Hopefully the person who cruelly abandoned Tank will be found guilty of animal cruelty, and spends time in jail for the offense.

Let’s hope the judge sees this as abandonment and prosecutes the POS owner to send her to jail for a long time! I’m glad the women were there in the right place at the right time!

Slap a long stretch in the pokey on the stupid *itch that dumped her dog to suffer who knows what fate. Nothing will change until a genuine fear of the punishment that comes from abandoning your dog is REAL! We must be their voice. Let’s get this fixed!

Mandy Nicole Shaffer – I would really enjoy a chance to meet you – and promise that you’d never see the age of 30 you miserable excuse for a woman, much less a human being – you and I would have a real good time – totally at your expense – five minutes is all I need to give you exactly what you deserve. And to Danielle Steely and her daughter – THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES FOR BEING THERE FOR TANK – YOU DEFINITELY DESERVE TO KEEP HIM and give him the safe loving home he so well deserves. You ladies are angels for stepping up for Tank – we need more like you.
