A Pennsylvania woman, in a cruel trick of abandonment and animal cruelty, told her dog to “fetch” after opening the door of her van on the side of a busy Westmoreland County roadway late last week and then quickly drove away.
According to PennLive, Mandy Nicole Shaffer, 29, is alleged to have stopped her vehicle, opened the door, threw a ball, told the 18-month-old boxer mix named Tank to “fetch” and sped away while the dog chased the ball. News source Pittsburgh CbsLocal reports witnesses Danielle Steeley and her daughter spotted Shaffer throwing the ball and then speeding away.
The women rescued Tank and have been caring for him. After conferring with Cross Your Paws Rescue and finding the owner, the women have decided to adopt him. Describing Tank, Danielle who is obviously already deeply in love with the friendly pooch, refers to him as “part marshmallow.”
“He’s a loving dog,” she says. “He’ll lick you to death. He actually sleeps with my daughter and cuddles with her every night.”
For now Tank is only a guest in the Steeley home, but it is hoped a judge makes the final decision that Tank has found his “forever home.” Shaffer has been charged with animal cruelty.

To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your having your favorites among those to “see first.
