A cow determined not to be on a dinner plate either jumped or bailed out of a truck headed to the slaughterhouse on Thursday in Paterson, New Jersey. Brianna, the cow, jumped from the second level of the truck, approximately eight feet from the ground,  onto Route 80 before she was rescued by a sanctuary.

Brianna’s bravery saved her life, and the lucky bovine will now live out her life safely at the Skylands Animal Sanctuary Rescue. The founder of the rescue, Mike Stura, was able to place a lasso around her neck and eventually was ab;e to get her cornered as she wandered along the busy highway. This was the first cow Stura has ever rescued that escaped from a slaughter truck.

No one knows how she managed to fall from the second level of the truck, but on inspection, the truck door was missing. Brianna, however was the only cow that bailed out.

Although Brianna has a few minor injuries, the organization’s veterinarian stated she was in good health. She will be quarantined to make sure she isn’t sick.

Check out her video… what a lucky girl!

  1. She was lucky that the right kind of people came to retrieve her. Others have tried to escape, but have been unsuccessful.

Hopefully, by sharing the stories of those who make a desperate run for it, more people will see these unfortunate creatures as the sentient beings they are, and not conveniently view them as animated objects.

  2. Wish every single one of them could have bailed out! I hope people are becoming more aware of what they are eating and if it’s really worth it!

  3. This is exactly why I’m vegan and will never go back to the old ways. I feed my dogs vegan too.

No sensitive animal should ever be put through such horror by human beings, as in on a truck headed for slaughter after having been “grown” like some animated potato. Look what people do to them out of willful ignorance, heartlessness, greed and gluttony. Thank goodness those rescue people came to get her. Think about all the others.
