In Panama City, Florida a couple visiting the Panama City Mall have been charged with animal cruelty after authorities had to break into their rental car and rescue a puppy locked inside of the trunk on Sunday afternoon.

According to witnesses Kylee Underwood and her friend, Brian Powell, they had pulled into the parking lot to meet friends for lunch when they spotted a man grabbing a puppy by the neck,, hitting her several times and then throwing the defenseless pooch into the trunk of the car while the other members of the family walked into the mall.

“…Us and a couple other people saw him doing this and he just stared right back at us,” Kylee wrote in her post on Facebook. “As soon as he walked off, the cops were called. PCPC showed up and did their job!!! They busted the window to the rental car (they were visiting from Mississippi) and had to pull down the backseat to get to the trunk. They then had to pull out a trunk full of luggage to even be able to reach the dog who was shoved into a kennel that was way too small for her!! By this time, the dog had been in the trunk for over 30 minutes. The cops went inside and arrested the couple who owned the dog, and they will be going to jail!! And the pup is on its way to animal control. People are seriously so ignorant.! Thankful that the puppy is okay though!!!”

The puppy was reportedly taken to PetSmart for help. Shee has been described in good physical shape and will be staying with animal control. The couple were taken to the Bay County Jail.

Be the voice for those who cannot speak. Many thanks to Kylee and Brian. You are heroes.

  7. I, among many others want to shout out a huge THANK YOU to Kylee Underwood and Brian Powell for stepping up and calling the police on these hunks of sewer sludge for their cruelty towards an innocent defenseless puppy. You did not walk away, you did the right thing and your actions saved the life of an innocent defenseless puppy. I applaud you both – we could use more people like you who abhor animal abuse and DO something about it. I hope the maggots that did this get their just dues – a date with an 18 wheeler – they deserve to be splattered all over the highway.

  8. She still isn’t safe. Now she needs to be rescued from animal control or she will die at their hands instead.
