A couple in Newark, New Jersey, have been arrested for allegedly caging their puppy and starving him. According to NJ.com, 29-year-old Jose E. Martinez, and his girlfriend, 27-year-old Porchia Williams, regularly failed to feed their six-month-old pit bull puppy and they kept him confined to a filthy, urine and feces-filled cage inside of their apartment.

Accusations and charges

In a release, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office detailed the puppy’s suffering – noting that he weighed a mere 8.5 pounds when he was rescued and was suffering from urine burns, and pressure sores, on his body. The pup was taken to an emergency veterinary clinic for care – his current condition is unknown.

The couple accused of the blatant neglect were arrested and released. They are facing animal cruelty charges and are expected to appear in court to face those charges in January.

  1. These vile monsters need to have the same thing done to them, starve them the same way they did to this defenseless pup and have them live in their own filth. Why did they have this pup if they planned on doing this. They should be in jail now, not wait until a court hearing in January. Never allowed to own any type of animal and should be in jail for at least a year for each of them. Justice system needs to step up and make these crimes have more punishable bite to them.

  2. I don’t care what colour people’s skin is, if they abuse any living creature they deserve the harshest penalties under the law, though imo there re no penalties harsh enough yet. Hi about a year each perpetrator for every day of life the abused animal has suffered and has to wait out medical care before they can be rehomed with a loving family.

  3. This SHOWS The other 49 States in our Country JUST HOW MUCH “Animal Welfare” and Totally and Clueless and Unconcerned the “BLANKING” Justice System in New Jersey is concerned about the four legged population!!!! NOT and these “ETHNIC POSS” will be LONG GONE when it is their time to go to COURT!!! SO SAD!!!!

    • As a NJ native, I find this behavior reprehensible. They don’t qualify as human beings; they qualify as savage maggots scumbags. Put a black bag over their heads and execute them. It would be no loss to the world.

  4. PUT THESE TWO UGLY LOW LIFE POS, WHO PROBABLY LIVE ON WELFARE , IN A CAGE AND LET THEM SIT IN THEIR OWN FECES AND STARVE THE BASTARDS. AFTER MONTHS LET ME TAKE A BLUNT OBJECT AND SMASH THEIR HEAD IN. USELESS ASSHOLES LIKE THIS MAKE ME SICK. NONE OF THESE STATES STILL HAVE STRONG ENOUGH ANIMAL LAWS, BECAUSE THE WORLD THINKS MORE HIGHLY OF HUMANS OVER ANIMALS. TERRIBLY SAD.

  5. Why do these low lives get a dog if this is how they are going to take care of it. This duo will, undoubtedly, get nothing more than a slap on the wrist and again it is the dog who will have suffered. A 6 month old puppy that only weighs 8.5lbs has had a horrendous life thus far, I hope he can survive.
