On Monday, the Coast Guard ended the search for the missing plane and pilot, Bill Kinsinger in the Gulf of Mexico. According to the press release, the Coast Guard stated it had searched 17,458 nautical miles for approximately 79 hours.

On Wednesday,  pilot Bill Kinsinger, 55, was last seen after the plane he was flying disappeared. According to Pilots N Paws, Kinsinger had been leaving Oklahoma City to Georgetown, Texas to pick up Masaru, an 11-year-old husky dog. The dog needed veterinary treatment and had been saved from euthanasia.

“Ending a search is a difficult decision that we put the upmost thought and consideration into, said Capt. David Cooper, chief of incident management, Eighth Coast Guard District. “Dr. Kinsinger was a well loved man and our hearts go out to everyone impacted during this tragic time.”

Involved in search were Coast Guard aircrews from:

-Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas

-Air Station Clearwater, Florida

-Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina

-Aviation Training Center Mobile, Alabama

The motor vessel Gas Wisdom responded to a Coast Guard request for vessels in the area to assist and searched Wednesday evening. The Mexican Naval Secretariat had two ships, the ARM Demacrato and the ARM Guanajuato, involved in the search.

On the “Saving Masuru the senior husky” Facebook page, condolences to the Kinsinger family are being shared.

“While we do understand the gravity of what this means, we hold hope in our hearts someday we will be blessed with the news that he has been found alive and well. Not many of us can truly say we have left this life in a better place than how we found it. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

We would like for everyone to join us in hosting a candle light vigil to celebrate Dr. Kinsinger’s life and honor his memory and the legacy he has left behind. We will post details for this shortly.”

You are in our thoughts Dr. Kinsinger. You are a hero.

  1. O this is heartbreaking – to hear that Dr. Kinsinger has not been found is a huge tragedy -he did so much to help animals – still hoping for a miracle.

  2. Weird. I saw a post the day after he went missing that the plane was found and Bill did not make it. It is terribly sad to lose such a good man. We need more Bill Kinsingers in this world, not less. May his family feel the love that is sent from so many.
