Alright, so the baby bison doesn’t have a name like Spot or Tiger. She is referred to as IVF 1. Wondering how that came about? She is the first  calf born from in-vitro fertilization which could help conservationists save endangered species one day soon.

In Fort Collins, Colorado, the female bison calf was born using IVF performed at Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Eight bison; four calves and their mothers were released in the Laramie Foothills Bison Conservation Herd.

As for IVF1, the ten-month-old, according to PhysOrg , is the first bison calf in the world to be conceived using reproductive material from animals removed from Yellowstone National Park. Hopefully, one day scientists will be able to provide a solution for the nearly extinct white rhinoceros.

Check out the video. Aren’t all baby bison adorable?

You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your having your favorites among those to “see first.

  1. This would definitely save endangered animals and hopefully not used to manipulate the outcome to get the “perfect” animal.
