Chinese circus condemned for lion and tiger attack on horse during rehearsal

A Chinese circus is being condemned for animal cruelty after a video emerged online showing a white horse being attacked by a lion and tiger during  a rehearsal. Disturbing footage shows a tiger pouncing on a horse’s back while a lion bites at the horse’s legs. Trainers are shown beating the tiger and lion with whips in an effort to free the horse.

According to the Daily Mail, the horse only suffered minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. Mr Xu, a staff member from Taiyang Circus, told btime.com that the crew had been practicing for a show where the tiger and lion would be riding the saddled horse. The performance was scheduled to take place in Cangzhou, Hebel Province.

The incident took place last month, and Mr. Xu explained the lion and tiger behaved just like wild animals; four workers used whips and long poles to hit the wild cats until they released the horse. The circus has owned all the animals since they were very young, and there was supposedly no danger to any of the humans involved.

Social media insists the government investigate the circus with the majority of comments on social media Weibo agreeing the animal cruelty involved should be stopped.

Animals should not be used in Circuses. It’s time to end that practice.
Wild animals are called that for a reason. Training them to do stupid tricks is stupid.

The Chinese are sadistic sub-human maggots that DON’T care about ANY animal, their women or children. All they care about are the men and yet Americans continue to support this barbaric country by way of buying millions of dollars of products. Sick and tired of you cowards ranting and raving, claiming this and that. If you REALLY want change, then you would boycott EVERYTHING Chinese. The really frustrating thing is, you fail to embrace the fact that it wouldn’t take long of boycotting to get their greedy attention. These monsters THRIVE on OUR purchases, then laugh at us and see us a stupid and weak. Put your freaking words of condemnation away, as they mean NOTHING. WE have the power of the wallet, yet most of you don’t use that because you’re either too stupid or lazy, or worse, BOTH. Sad and pathetic.

That’s why wild animals should be left in the wild! Glad the horse was not killed, it could have been very easily. And the tigers were going to ride the horse why???????????

ALL circuses are nothing more than torture chambers for animals and this being in China you can be well assured the cruelty imposed on the animals is at the top level. They have no concern about animal welfare at all – NO animal should be in any circus anywhere. It is time the whole world end using animals in circuses.

This is cruel and should banned! Wild animals belong in their natural habitat and not paraded around the circus rink. Having a big cat ride on the back of the horse is absurd and putting the horse in danger. One way big cats kills prey is jumping on the prey’s back to drag it down. I’m glad the horse was not badly injured.
