A woman in South Carolina is desperate to find her dog, who was inside of her car when it was stolen from a gas station in North Charleston. According to Count on 2 News, the dog, who is blind, was inside of Maria Rojas-Lucas car on Saturday morning when an opportunistic thief took advantage of Rojas-Lucas’ mistake.

What happened?

The dog, Teddy, was inside of Rojas-Lucas’ car which was at the Exxon on Rivers Avenue. Teddy’s owner went inside to pay when she encountered a problem with her debit car – her critical error was leaving her keys inside of the vehicle. Someone took advantage of the situation and drove away in her 2005 Toyota Scion XB.

She commented on the loss of her beloved dog, “I’m worried about because the person who stole my car may hurt him, may kill him. I just want him back again.” She added, “It doesn’t matter the other stuff, the materials, I don’t care. I mean I do, but I care more about my dog. He’s sick and blind and I am the only one to take care of him. He’s like my baby.”

Getting Teddy home

A $100 reward is offered for Teddy’s safe return. Teddy is a six-year-old Maltese mix who has a microchip.  The stolen car is a white 2005 Toyota Scion XB with the South Carolina license plate PVN-434. If you know where the car or the dog may be, contact the North Charleston Police Department at (843) 740-2800 or Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.

  1. Please find this doggie who is blind poor doggie car was stolen on n Carolina pray he finds his owner & is safe &!healthy bg

  2. It is really hard to feel sorry for someone so careless and stupid! I do hope and pray the poor innocent defenseless dog is okay. It would be a good idea to increase the reward although the precious dog is priceless. My prayers are that the dog will ultimately be in the hands of a more caring and responsible owner.

    • It’s hard for me to believe you are being so cruel. The owner may older and low income. I’ll pray for the safe return of Teddy and that God will work on your black heart.

  3. Pray this woman gets her dog back and who ever stole the car gives the dog to someone to take to a shelter where he could be scanned. I really hope this scum doesn’t just let the dog out thinking he will find his way home and also hope he can actually see that this dog is blind. Oh, how horrible and I feel so bad for this woman.Dear God help her.

  4. Hard to feel sorry for such carelessness and sheer STUPIDITY! I do hope and pray the dog is safe! The reward should be increased from $100, which is way too low for a “priceless” dog! In any case, this precious dog deserves a caring and responsible owner!

  6. We have given the owner several leads and she has not made one call, one text or even an inquiry on the dogs that have been found that look identical or even similar to hers. They have been posted on many websites with phone numbers and she has called not one of them. All anyone is getting is a “thank u”. Thinking something fishy going on here. She even said she found a car that looked like hers but not sure it was and claims police never came to check it out. Sorry but 1 I would know my own car and 2 if the police don’t respond in a reasonable amount of time why not call again instead of leaving if you are so devasted about missing your dog????Something not right in this entire story.
