When a young buck accidentally maneuvered his head into a spherical light fixture bowl, his herd abandoned him in the woods of Monmouth County, New Jersey. Fortunately rescuers from the SPCA and the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife came to his rescue on Friday morning.
According to the Facebook page for the SPCA, the deer had been ostracized from his herd because he looked so different with the bowl. Rescuers believe the globe had been filled with water and as the deer tried to drink out of it, his head became caught. The deer would show up after his herd had come to feed.
Humane Law Enforcement, in cooperation with the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife, waited for the buck to appear again and humanely sedated him to save his life, and the bowl removed. Besides a few scrapes and scratches, more than likely from bumping into things while his eyesight was obscured, once the sedation wore off and he was cleaned up, the buck shook himself off and walked away.
